| Deputy Nalley and Sergeant Hubert Lloyd were killed when their helicopter crashed as they were preparing to search for a serial rapist. The officers were flying the helicopter from one airport to the Charleston International Airport when it crashed less then one mile after takeoff.
Deputy Nalley had been with the agency for two years.
William Allen Nalley's name has been engraved at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, DC. His name can be located on panel 53, E -18.
A plaque bearing William Allen Nalley's name is displayed at the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Hall of Fame in Columbia.
