| Keith Ellsworth Charleston Police Department Friday, October 06, 1944
| Lieutenant Ellsworth was shot and killed at 0415 hours when he and other officers interrupted a burglary in progress at an auto shop on Meeting Street. As the officers approached the suspect opened fire, striking him in the chest.
